Overview

Yeet Prompt is a desktop voice transcription app for Windows. It is built with privacy first: there are no user accounts, no telemetry, and no tracking in the app itself. This policy explains what little data is involved and how it is handled.

What Data We Collect

Almost nothing. Yeet Prompt does not require user accounts and does not collect analytics or telemetry inside the application.

The marketing website (yeetprompt.com) uses Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not collect personal data.

Audio Data

Yeet Prompt offers two transcription modes:

  • Cloud mode: Audio is sent to the Groq API for transcription. Groq processes audio in real-time and does not store it. See Groq's privacy policy for details.
  • Local mode: All processing stays entirely on your device via whisper.cpp. No data leaves your computer.

In both modes, Yeet Prompt never stores raw audio files. Audio is held in memory only for the duration of transcription and then discarded.

Local Storage

All app data stays on your computer in %AppData%/yeet-prompt/:

  • Settings (electron-store): your hotkey configuration, API key, and preferences.
  • Transcription history (sql.js SQLite database): past transcriptions with timestamps.

You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app data folder or using the in-app history controls.

Third-Party Services

  • Groq — Cloud transcription. You provide your own API key. Audio is sent for processing only and is not stored by Groq. Subject to Groq's privacy policy.
  • Stripe — Payment processing for purchases. Stripe is an independent data controller. Yeet Prompt does not store your payment information. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Plausible Analytics — Cookie-free, GDPR-compliant website analytics. Used on yeetprompt.com only, not in the app. No personal data is collected.
  • Google Fonts — Loaded on the marketing website. Google may receive your IP address when fonts are loaded. Not used in the desktop app.

Cookies

The Yeet Prompt application uses no cookies. The marketing website also uses no cookies (Plausible Analytics is cookie-free). Stripe's checkout page may use its own cookies per Stripe's policy.

Data Retention

All application data is stored locally on your machine and you control it entirely. You can delete your transcription history from within the app or by removing the app data folder. Stripe retains purchase records per their own retention policy.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Since almost all of your data is stored locally on your device, you already have full control over it. You can view, export, and delete your data at any time.

For Stripe purchase data, you can contact Stripe directly or email us and we will help facilitate your request. EU residents can exercise their GDPR rights by contacting us at hello@yeetprompt.com.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident: we do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may contact us at hello@yeetprompt.com to request disclosure of any personal information we hold.

Children's Privacy

Yeet Prompt is not directed at children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
