Questions? Answered.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Yeet Prompt includes a local whisper.cpp backend that runs entirely on your machine. In "auto" mode, it tries the fast cloud transcription first and falls back to local if you're offline. You can also force local-only or cloud-only mode in settings.

Is my audio sent to the cloud?

Only if you use cloud mode. In cloud mode, audio is sent to the Groq API for transcription — Groq does not store your audio. In local-only mode, nothing leaves your machine. You control which mode to use.

What languages are supported?

Cloud mode (Groq Whisper) supports 10+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and more. Local mode (whisper.cpp) supports English with the included model — you can swap in multilingual models.

Do I need a Groq API key?

For cloud transcription, yes — but Groq offers a generous free tier. Get your key at console.groq.com in 30 seconds. Without a key, local transcription still works.

Is it Windows only?

Yes, currently Windows only. The push-to-talk hotkey system and auto-paste rely on Windows-specific APIs. macOS and Linux support may come in the future.

What's the catch at $1.99?

No catch. Yeet Prompt uses your own Groq API key (free tier available), so there's no ongoing server cost for us. The price covers the app itself. We believe good tools should be accessible, and $1.99 removes all friction.

How long can I record?

Up to 2 minutes per recording (configurable in settings). Most transcriptions are done in 5-30 seconds. The hold-to-record pattern naturally keeps recordings focused.

Can I change the hotkey?

Yes. The default is Right Ctrl, but you can set any key or key combination in settings. The hotkey is global — works no matter what app is focused.
